Join a Migration Working Group meeting that will centre around questions of migration on a historical scale.

Present-day concepts regarding migratory practices have to be critically re-examined and might acquire different connotations depending on the periods and locations. The two presentations share a geographical scope – the Ottoman Empire and its Mediterranean entanglements – but differ in how migration is conceptualised. Anachronistically put, while Polish émigrés reached the Ottoman Empire seeking political asylum, the abduction of an Ottoman pasha by his slaves shads light on a network of reciprocal human trafficking.
