Project Associate
Elena Iorio is Project Associate at the MPC, where she is scientific coordinator of the Migration Summer School.
Elena has studied in Venice (Ca’ Foscari), Berlin (Technische Universität), Florence (Università degli Studi), Paris (EHESS) and earned her PhD from the Department of History and Civilization of the EUI in 2014, with a thesis on the conscientious objection to military service in Italy and West-Germany (1945-1972). Her research interests include peace studies and resistance to institutions: her latest research focuses on the hesitancies and resistances to national health systems, with a bottom-up approach and a particular attention to changes in the health care practices of the communities also in the light of migration.
In addition, Elena is an experienced editor and has worked for many years in the Italian publishing industry (Rizzoli Education, Mondadori).
