Verena K. Brändle

Visiting Fellow
Verena K. Brändle is Visiting Fellow at the MPC and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Vienna. Prior to this, she held postdoc positions at the University of Copenhagen where she also obtained her PhD in 2017. As recipient of an International Postdoctoral Grant by the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the project ‘Informing to dissuade? Governments’ digital information campaigns for migrants as bordering practices’, she currently analyses the attempts of EU governments and international organisations to influence migrants’ decision-making with communicative strategies. Special emphasis is put on critically assessing these campaigns within the broader context of the increasing importance of social and online media for government communication, political accountability, and state bordering practices.
