To support academic writing in a collaborative setting, the Migration Working Group is organising a two-day writing retreat open to early-career researchers across migration-related and other fields that offers structured focus, informal peer exchange, and a supportive research community.

We are happy to announce a writing retreat on 25–26 March, open to early-stage career researchers, working on migration-related topics as well as other fields. The retreat is designed to provide writing time in a supportive environment, with opportunities for informal feedback and exchange. Participation is flexible: you are welcome to join for one or both days. The retreat is open to all kinds of writing-related work, including thesis or dissertation chapters, journal articles or abstracts, coding or data analysis, and grant or project-related writing.

Participants are expected to commit to staying for the full writing retreat day, to avoid much coming and going, so that everyone can fully benefit from the shared writing environment. We hope all participants arrive on time so we can start together at 9:00 am.

The idea is for everyone to share and progress in a supportive environment and take away useful feedback. To support feedback, each participant will be paired with another participant. Pairs will be invited to exchange short feedback during breaks or discussion moments (e.g. on structure, clarity, or next steps). This event is meant to be informal and supportive rather than evaluative.

The Migration Working Group (MWG) is a researcher-led research group, whose aim is to foster exchange on the latest, cutting-edge migration research and give the opportunity to early career scholars and PhD researchers to present their research.
