This session of the Migration Working Group will discuss how the perception of and reaction to newly incoming migrants can differ.
While the first part of the session addresses how these are affected by evolving patterns of in-migration, the second part analyses what factors drive societal and political reactions in the first place.
Cansu Civelek will present her paper “Entangled processes of urban ruination, dispossession, and depoliticization: a spatio-temporal analysis of the Karapinar neighborhood in Eskisehir, Turkey” while Zuzanna Samson will present her paper “The gender and racial lenses of asylum (un)deservingness: the case of Poland”.
