Davide Carbonai

Visiting Fellow
Davide Carbonai is an associate professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do sul (Brazil) since 2015. He has a BA in Political Sciences at the University of Firenze (2001) and a PhD in Economic sociology at the University of Teramo (2005). In 2006 he was awarded the Young researchers’ prize for social research by the journal "Polis. Ricerche e studi su società e politica in Italia". He has taught and researched in Italy, at University of Teramo, from 2005 to 2009, and Brazil, at Universidade Federal do Pampa, from 2010 to 2014, and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, from 2015 until now. He is the author of “Rural workers, Sindicatos and collective bargaining in Rio Grande do Sul”, Palgrave, Macmillan, 2022. He is member of ALAST (Asociación Latinoamericana de Estudios del Trabajo) and SISEC (Societá Italiana di Sociologia Economica).

Research focus/fields of interest: rural workers, waste pickers, waste policy, rural migration, latin american studies.
Core disciplines: economic sociology, public policy.
