Mariapia Mendola

Visiting Fellow
Mariapia Mendola is Professor of Economics at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Director of the Poverty and Development Program at Centro Studi Luca d'Agliano (Turin), Research Fellow at IZA and CefES. He research interests are in the the fields of Development Economics and Migration, with a focus on diversity, networks, culture and political economy. Mariapia’s work has been published in, among many others, the Journal of European Economic Association, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Geography. Her research has been funded by, among others, the International Growth Center (IGC), the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), the World Bank and Fondazione Cariplo. Mariapia’s work has been featured in popular outlets such as the Economist, Le Soir, la Repubblica, il Corriere della Sera and she is a member of the Editorial Board at Lavoce.info. Mariapia holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, an MA in Development Economics from the University of Sussex (UK) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Milan.
