Sophia Kagan

Visiting Fellow
Sophia Kagan is a migration specialist focusing on labour protection of vulnerable migrant workers. With two decades professional experience as a legal and policy expert, including more than 12 years with the UN’s International Labour Organization, she has designed and implemented successful development projects focusing on elimination of forced labour, addressing climate change displacement, and ensuring rights of international temporary labour migrants, across Asia Pacific and the Arab States. She has a Bachelor of Laws (1st Hons) from Monash University, MSc Development from the London School of Economics, and executive education with Harvard University, (Kennedy School).

Her research has focussed on migration diplomacy, migration communication and the regulation of temporary labour migration programmes. She will continue this research at the MPC, before starting a new advisory role with the Australian government, focusing on migration policy.
