Join a workshop co-organised by Mercator Forum Migration and Democracy (MIDEM) and the Migration Policy Centre that will review migration policies beyond the “traditional” destination EU countries and citizens’ reactions and assessment of them.

Recently, due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, more than 8 million people have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. Particularly countries in Central and Eastern Europe are now hosting an unprecedented number of refugees. For instance, Poland, a country hosting relatively small numbers of refugees compared to other countries in the past years, has suddenly become one of the countries with the largest population of refugees in the world in just a few weeks. A powerful influence on migration policy is how citizens in key hosting states respond to migration. It is against this backdrop that the event reviews migration policies beyond the “traditional” destination countries and citizens´ reactions and assessment of them.
